Aug 7th, 2019 – Mumbai: WeddingSutra.com, India’s leading bridal media brand and most followed wedding planning resource, is proud to announce yet another first-of-its-kind initiative – the WeddingSutra Charity Registry.

The WeddingSutra Charity Registry empowers couples who are passionate about giving to choose from a range of NGOs, non-profit organizations and causes, to create their Charity Registry. Wedding guests from any part of the world can make credit card contributions as their wedding gifts. Given the vast amount of money spent at Indian weddings annually, this initiative can move the charity needle in a major way.

WeddingSutra has partnered with reputable and accredited India-based NGOs and social enterprises that are dedicated to causes ranging from social welfare, children’s education, animal rights and the environment.

“We believe that there is a growing awareness among millennials that the way you live their life should reflect your values. Today, they are more conscious than ever about their impact on the society. And what better way for newly-weds to start a life together than to give back to society by contributing to causes they  genuinely care about,” says Parthip Thyagarajan, CEO, WeddingSutra.com.

Through the WeddingSutra Charity Registry, couples will be able to select up to five charities based on causes they want to support and those that reflect their values. Every transaction will be tracked in the couple’s Registry so the couple can thank the contributors and share the impact of their contributions. “Signing up for the WeddingSutra Charity Registry may not be traditional, but what can be better than the joy of giving at this most joyous occasion in people’s lives! It also allows guests to feel like they’re supporting your union while supporting organizations that you care about,”says Madhulika Sachdeva, Co-founder, WeddingSutra.com

“The WeddingSutra Charity Registry initiative is a reflection of the new reality that people want their own philanthropic narrative,” says Mr Maneck Davar, Managing Trustee of Make-A-Wish Foundation India. “I’m confident that weddings will become one of the most notable ways that people, especially those with a social conscience,  would choose to give back as a way of sharing their joy and happiness.”

The WeddingSutra Charity Registry will go live on registry.weddingsutra.com from August 1, 2019, offering a user friendly and easy to navigate platform.
